Hello Visitor

Newsletter - Spring 2024

Well, here we find ourselves at the beginning of a new gardening season! I hope this finds you all in good health and spirits despite the rather long, wet and weary Winter we’ve had.  Still, we are always optimistic and with a new season comes new hope, each time the sun pays a visit more tips push their way through to bask in the warmth.  My favourite time of year to wander around the nursery (ignoring all the jobs to be done) and spot the fresh, new growth – it lifts my heart!

I’ve got a full schedule of events booked once again, a lot of old favourites such as my “warm up” event at Digby Hall, Sherborne this coming Saturday 23rd March, warm being the operative word as it’s indoors so no need to worry about the weather for a change! Always lots of colour from the spring bulbs but I’ll also have some Dahlia tubers and pots of lovely fresh foliage to fill those gaps that always appear at this time of year.  To ring the changes I’ve added in a few new events too, the first of which is on Easter Sunday at Burrow Farm Gardens, Axminster.

Unfortunately the website is not working too well at the moment with regard to the Shows so none appear, but I will try to email out a list of the upcoming ones on a monthly basis. The first four are listed below and hopefully I can get the site fixed before too long.

Saturday 23rd March – Specialist Plant Fair, Digby Hall, Hound Street, Dorset, DT9 3AA
10am-2pm
www.plantfairs.co.uk

Sunday 31st March – Burrow Farm Gardens Spring Plant Fair, Dalwood, Axminster, EX13 7ET

Saturday 6th April – Forde Abbey Spring Plant Fair, Forde Abbey, Chard, Somerset, TA20 4LY
10:30am-3pm
www.fordeabbey.co.uk

Sunday 14th April – Specialist Plant Fair, Mapperton Gardens, Mapperton, Nr Beaminster, Dorset, DT8 3NR
10am-4pm
www.plantfairs.co.uk

The new stock has been coming in since February and I’ve even managed to fit in some propagation too, it is all rooting well so the nursery is filling up nicely. A few highlights of new delights making an appearance this season are Ajuga ‘Princess Nadia’, Brunnera ‘Looking Glass’, Lamprocapnos (you and I know this as Dicentra) ‘Cupid’ Iris ensata Variegata, Phlomis ‘Amazone’ and Thalictrum rochebrunianum (now there’s a mouthful for you) and lots more coming throughout the season along with lots of old favourites too.

As normal I have attached this years Plant List PDF to this email, so have a browse and get in touch to order either via email, phone or the webshop. If what you want is out of stock in the shop please contact me as it's not up to date as I would like at the moment.

Do please feel free to just call or drop us a line anytime and we'll see what we can do.

Enough for now, I shall leave you to your garden wanderings and look forward to seeing you out and about at the events, don’t forget to say hello.

Helen
